Booking Terms and Conditions

Effective 2026

1.The Contract and Legal Formation

These Terms and Conditions constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("the Passenger") and Catherine Frith trading as Discover Life Travel (ABN 62 004 927 830). The contract is formed when we issue a written confirmation of your booking following the receipt of your deposit.

2.Financial Commitments: Deposits and Payments

2.1Deposit Requirement

A 30% deposit is required at the time of booking.

2.2Non-Refundability

The 30% deposit is strictly non-refundable as it covers unrecoverable costs like heritage hotel deposits and airfares.

2.3Final Payment

Due 30 days prior to departure. Failure to pay may result in cancellation fees applying from the due date.

2.4Consumer Protection

All funds are held in an Australian-regulated account in Victoria until travel completion or payment to Indian suppliers.

3.Cancellations and Future Travel Credits

Notice of cancellation must be provided in writing to bookings@discoverlifetravel.com.

3.1Future Travel Credit (56+ Days Prior)

If you cancel 56+ days before departure, funds paid above the 30% deposit will be held as a Future Travel Credit.

3.2Credit Terms

Credits are non-expiring, non-transferable, and not redeemable for cash.

3.3Late-Stage Cancellation Fees

Notice Period Before Departure Amount Retained by DLT
31 to 55 Days Prior 30% deposit or 50% of cost (whichever is greater)
15 to 30 Days Prior 50% of total booking cost
14 Days or Fewer 100% of total booking cost

3.4Post-Departure

No refunds or credits for unused services.

3.5Cancellation by Discover Life Travel

While it is exceptionally rare for us to cancel a tour, we reserve the right to do so at any time. Should we cancel, you may choose:

  1. (a) A full refund of all monies paid to us; or
  2. (b) A Future Travel Credit for the full amount paid plus an exclusive USD 200 bonus credit as a thank you for your flexibility.

Note: This bonus is subject to the terms in Section 3.2. DLT is not responsible for incidental expenses (visas, non-refundable flights, etc.).

4.Mandatory Comprehensive Travel Insurance

Insurance is compulsory for international travel. You must have a minimum of USD 200,000 coverage for medical and repatriation. Evidence of insurance must be sighted by your Leader before joining the group.

5.Mandatory Indian Entry and Consular Protocols

5.1Visas and Passports

Passengers must obtain a valid Indian visa/ETA; passports must have 6 months validity.

5.2Su-Swagatam

You must complete the electronic arrival card within 72 hours of arrival.

5.3Reference Name

You must list Mother Masala Tours as your Reference Name in India on visa applications.

6.Data Privacy (DPDPA Compliance)

DLT acts as a Data Fiduciary. We collect passport data for "Form-C" reporting and transport bookings. Data is securely erased 30 days after the tour.

7.Flexibility and Itinerary Changes

Travel in India involves higher risk than in Australia. Itineraries are representative; routes and transport may change without notice due to local circumstances. If a "significant change" (affecting 1 in 5 days) occurs before departure, you may accept the change, obtain a refund on the land portion, or accept an alternative trip.

8.Behaviour and Conduct

You must comply with local laws and DLT Community Guidelines. The Leader has the authority to direct you to leave the trip immediately, at your own cost and without refund, if your behaviour is illegal, unsafe, or inappropriate.

9.Limitation of Liability and Property

Personal effects are carried at your own risk. DLT is not liable for loss or damage to property, nor for incidental or consequential damages to the extent permitted by Australian Consumer Law.

10.Force Majeure and Jurisdiction

DLT is not liable for failures due to natural disasters, pandemics, or government bans. In such cases, DLT will offer a 100% credit or a refund minus unrecoverable costs. This contract is governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.

11.Minor Participant Indemnity

Parents/guardians of participants under 18 agree to indemnify DLT against claims arising from the minor's involvement in the trip.
